I liked this one because you can see some wings up, some down and the action of the ocean behind them.

Tell a story: I have a male black-chinned hummer which fiercely protects "his" feeder. I knew the second an intruder was in the area by his wide-flying arcs and deep dives.

This one also show the hills but a close up on the bird. It needs more room to fly into. :-)

Habitat: This photo of an Albatros in Hawaii, show the pretty, lush hills near their nesting site. It is a protected area with a huge fence around it.

ElizabethParticipantAll great, but that last one is really special. Not just the bond, but the black and white of the birds and rocks make for a nice "feel". Great work!in reply to: Practice Getting Creative and Telling Stories #720780

ElizabethParticipantThese are all nice. I would move the one with the bull over so that even more of the bull is showing and the birds is on the far left hand side-the look on the birds face is special as he's looking at the bull. :-)in reply to: Practice Crafting Great Bird Photos #720265

ElizabethParticipantPlain ole house sparrow with side lighting. That really makes the feather texture pop.
Sorry this isn't a bird-but I used spot metering on this mink's face like Melissa did on the crow to get his eyes, plus backlighting to highlight his fur. It's really hot here today and the birds just weren't out! I'm learning to change my metering mode to accommodate different situations.

ElizabethParticipantYes, that last use of thirds did make me smile. What is the bird in second photo? Nice shots.in reply to: Practice Crafting Great Bird Photos #720260

ElizabethParticipantDon't know where my text went. Male Western Towhee, back lighting with shadow. This is a wrong use of composition-he needs more room to look into.in reply to: Practice Crafting Great Bird Photos #720258

ElizabethParticipantWhat great birds-I'm loving seeing the birds from around the world. Your break the rules photo makes me want to scoot it over a bit so it is looking into the void-know you did this on purpose to emphasize the plumes. Second one has nice composition-thanks for sharing these birds with us. Libbyin reply to: Practice Crafting Great Bird Photos #720251

ElizabethParticipantI went to our Botanical Garden and found a few different places to sit. Discovered some nesting house wrens, Lazuli buntings which are still singing-I'm not sure if they are defending territory or not. One was preening and rousting while I took photos, so felt he wad pretty comfortable with me. Then saw a female Bullock's Oriole chase away a male Black-n
ecked hummingbird, and blurred the photo on both.

I found this adult Cooper's Hawk with a meal because one of two young ones was begging for food. I kept hearing this sound, looked up and here was this sight, with one young one looking on and the other making all this racket. I was looking for warblers! Ha!
