I am familiar with sitting quietly and making observations but it has been awhile since I have done it. I typically focus on bird songs and keep track of how many species I hear, but today I looked more closely and the trees budding out around me. I noticed that they are not all at the same stages, even within the same species. This got me wondering about why this might be. Could it be soil, sun, wind exposure? I very much enjoyed myself and I plan on doing this for a few days.sit spot

I am not very familiar with water colors and I feel like I have a lot to learn about how to use them. I didn't like the colors that much that I used but I don't know how to mix them. You definitely note a lot more detail when you draw from a photo. When you are drawing from nature you miss a lot of detail unless the object you are drawing stays still for a long time which is unusual.yellowwarbler1

My friends and I decided to do this course together. This is great because it gives us incentive to stay on track. I have wanted to keep a nature journal for awhile but don't think I can draw that well. I am excited to try and I have come up with a goal which really excites me. My son and I have started beekeeping and I am an avid gardener. Now I am wondering what pollinates all various plants around me. I think it will be fun to observe my garden closely and find out the answers to this question. I like Shauna Muller's journal keeping style because she keeps information in a way I find attractive and logical.
