I found this interesting. Yes, it did make me focus completely on my subject. The drawings were not as off- base as I thought they would’ve been. I’m so enjoying this class. It’s such a great opportunity to really learn HOW to nature journal. Liz is such a fabulous instructor. She’s so encouraging!

NancyParticipantI really like the style in which Liz is instructing us. It’s early in this course, yet I feel like I’m learning so much! I’m sure everyone else agrees. I am ready to move on, but no doubt I’ll go back to the prior units for a refresher as needed. I’m s happy I took this course.in reply to: Illustrating the 3D World #646463

NancyParticipantHi Eileen Yes! You can return to all the units you mark complete. There’s an “ icon” on the bottom of the page, and directly over the green button to move onto the next unit, there’s a small green arrow to press to return to the prior lesson (s). Hope this helps!in reply to: Style Your Journal Your Way #646422

@Amy Hi Amy That’s neat! Wasn’t it interesting? She held your attention for sure. I always wanted to live in her little house.

NancyParticipantI am looking at the assignment, where Liz talks about hatching, cross hatching etc, and I see this in one of my books Naturalists Notebook by Nathaniel Wheelwright and Bernd Heinrich. The tree truck appears to be in the scribbling technique, and the nest next to it looks like the stippling technique Liz talks about! Wow! This class just started and I feel I’m learning a lot already! It’s such a great investment.in reply to: Style Your Journal Your Way #645575

NancyParticipantHi Sallie I like that. EDI. Claire Walker Leslie had a similar idea in her nature journals. It was so inspiring. An exceptional daily image I think she called it. It showed glimpses of joy and beauty in the everyday. We sure need that. Your journaling will be a source of gratitude and beauty for sure! Enjoy this class! Thanks for posting. You can do this! 👍🏻in reply to: Style Your Journal Your Way #645562

@Paige Hi Paige Wow ! What a shame! Too bad more were not kept. Oh that sounds great! Thank you for that info. She inspired so many of us kids. Nature was something we were “ in” everyday. I miss those days.

@Paige Oh how I loved that show. My folks would tease me ( lovingly), about my obsession with the program. Later, I was inspired by John Boy Walton’s nightly journal writings, on the Walton’s. My parents then said “ Nancy, you’re going to someday be a writer and illustrator!” That never happened, but I’m still loving sketching and journaling. It’s so fabulous for our minds and spirits, yes?
