IMG_2893 First IMG_2895 last I tried to use most of my new learned techniques.  Loved layering of colors,  I spent a lot more time on the sketch itself, focusing on shapes, negative space, measuring to get proportions.  I  really struggled with the beak and eye, did not feel I got it correct.  But happy with the rest of the drawing, better depth, color and value to my picture.

IMG_2880IMG_2879 It was much easier painting from a picture than in nature.  I noticed that the shadows changed before I was finished, I tried to use all of the techniques learned to date on these drawings.

IMG_2862 Oriole I saw in my yard, found a picture in one of my bird books to sketch, then watercolor.  I tried to use most of the ideas that have been shared.  how to get proper proportion, color matching, and trying to pay more attention to detail and the eye.

IMG_2798 Have not used water colors in over 15 years, always painted indoors using a photo, what was difficult was painting in full sunlight, and focusing on just one or two flowers even though there were several there, had to also deal with the slight movement from the wind.  I was happy with some of the colors but just could not get the flowers that had already lost their color, drying out.  Loved being outside!
