StefaniaParticipantMy favorite nature journaling experience was to learn the watercolors techniques and experiment with them the combination of colors. I truly enjoyed and even if I haven't understood completely how to make colors I love experimenting and mix the white, grey and black with other colors. I liked very much when Liz suggested us to mix a bit of green in the black to have a different type of black. I enjoyed the course very much. I have learnt that observations is important to explore and discoveryin reply to: Tips to Keep You Going #724797

StefaniaParticipantI did like Aldo Leopold. However, it is difficult to make a judgment for an extract of something. It would be good to read more to have a clearer sense of what the nature writer wants to share with the world. I have realised that I do not write a lot in my sketches. I tend to write the place and the time only, but more details could be helpful to be added in the future.in reply to: The Power of Reflection #724786

StefaniaParticipantHi All, I am really pleased about the outcome, I have noticed massive improvements in the shapes, colors and the attention to details that have been improved during this course. I would like to go backward to see some videos about other techniques. I now start to get the sense of what I am drawing and how I am drawing nature. I still dislike to draw birds, I found them very complicated to draw, but I do enjoy the process about see progress and improvements. A big difference has been in use of the watercolors and how everything has changed. I am truly pleased about the course.in reply to: See How Far You’ve Come #724780

StefaniaParticipant1. I create a special place for all my materials so it is easier for me to find them and start sketching. I set a place that it is easier to remember so I can find it immediately. 2. I have learnt that I tend to move forward from the focus and create something different with various colors as you can see from my pictures. Observations are really good, I enjoy hearing the sound of the water, I observe flowers and try to observe them deeply and longer. I do enjoy watercolor very much. I struggle with animals and birds. I truly dislike to draw them, I love drawing trees, and I enjoy watching the different types of trees.in reply to: Filling Your Sketches with Color #719560

StefaniaParticipantI like how you have used them Patricia, it reminds me to put together all the techniques I have been learning in this coursein reply to: Getting Comfortable with Watercolor #714788

StefaniaParticipant1. I have tried to use all the techniques. I have discovered that the wet-on-wet it my favourite. It is easier to use the wet-on-dry and I found difficult to do the dry brush techniques 2. I might incorporate the new watercolor techniques. Watercolors relax me very much.in reply to: Getting Comfortable with Watercolor #714785

StefaniaParticipant1. It was my first experience with watercolors and I enjoyed them very much. I liked to experimetn the tint, tone and shade and to find different colors. By experimenting many possibilities I realised I tend to experiment with dark colors even if I would like to have more lighter colors. In the future I want to use more white and yellow to see how things work. I struggle to make violet. I truly enjoyed this exercise very much.in reply to: Capturing Nature’s Color Palettes #714755

StefaniaParticipantNancy, it is good. I have learnt from you that there are pearlescent and fluorescent palette options too. Thanks for sharing this.in reply to: Capturing Nature’s Color Palettes #712700

StefaniaParticipantHi All, This is my drawing. I have found very boring to draw birds. There is too much complexity for me to observe and lack of confidence in drawing that a project like this has demotivated me to learn and to progress this course. I have decided to do it and I will see what you have done so far.in reply to: Giving Your Drawings Depth #712588

StefaniaParticipantWhen I have moved the drawing I have noticed that I have missed something. I wanted to finish earlier and I didn't see very well.in reply to: Drawing What You See – Upside Down Drawing #704649

StefaniaParticipantIt is easier to draw a stable animals and to the measurements. This technique has enabled me to make a better capture of the subject and manage my inconsistency about drawing a body. I like what Lis has done with the pencil and I have tried to repeat the same with the animals. I found interesting to draw both the penguin and the owl. By watching Lisa's video, i have recalled the importance of negative space and I am planning to draw more flowers to get the habit of proportions.in reply to: Getting the Proportions Right #700558

StefaniaParticipantIt is very difficult at the moment to do a gesture drawing. they move very fast. I do not get which point I need to start drawing when they move fast.in reply to: Capturing Behavior – Gesture Drawing #698729

StefaniaParticipantThis was fun and a challenge, I have tried two animals, at the beginning I was having a similar shape, then I struggle to draw the legs of the animals. By drawing them I had lost my focusin reply to: Focusing on Your Subject – Blind Contour Drawing #697759

StefaniaParticipantI have tried a comparison study. Since I have seen the video I have started to notice things differently in the nature. I decided to compare two herbs and I have noticed different colors, texture, and leaves. By observing them during a comparison study I have noticed that parsley has got big leaves with a triad of leaves together while a thyme has got many leaves in a more symmetric shape. It was difficult to draw them, but the comparison observation made me thinking how many times I have not noticed things that are there. I do not like eating parsley, but after the comparison study I have to admit that I like its colors very much. It brings me happiness and light.in reply to: The Power of Comparison #697744

StefaniaParticipantI have done a walk and I observed the different types of trees and colours. They have different shapes and roots and I would like to learn how to draw the roots of the trees. By reflecting on the scale and quantity, there are many, some areas have lots of trees. I have reflect upon my students and their learning. They come to University to study, we treat them equally, but the reality is that - as the trees - they are very different to each other, they have different lights and dimensions. Therefore, they will not have the same learning experience. Forms: the forms of the trees are very different and their leave might have different colors too even if they are the same trees.in reply to: Noticing Themes in Nature #697672

StefaniaParticipantI had planned to go to a forest and to do the exercise, then I met a friend and she introduces me to another forest close by. I have done the exercise when I was alone, when we left the forest and I was sitting on top of a view so I was able to see the valley and start my drawing. Different noises were present. I felt the wind that was pushing my hair ups and downs. After 10 minutes I was able to hear the different birds. I could see the forest on the right side and different colours of the trees. The valley has got its beauties that can be observed by different perspectives, lights and factors to see. I have noticed different types of green - as a color - and I would like to be able to use different colours in my illustrations.in reply to: Opening Your Senses #697670

StefaniaParticipantActually, I don't feel comfortable putting marks on the page. The chiaroscuro is not really clear to me and i feel rubbish about it. I have seen the others are they are really good, while mine is a bit uglyin reply to: Illustrating the 3D World #692301

StefaniaParticipant1. I did like drawing the leaves first and the bird afterwards. It came easily, the body of the bird was challenging to get the right measures. In addition, I found my bird is smaller than yours. 2. I did not notice a piece of wood, when I made the photo bigger, i have noticed it. I believe it depends on the time and experience. I wanted to draw nice leaves, but they are not nice for me. I guess I do not have a technique yet, but it will come. I have added the information on the previous page about the day, time and weather conditions. I did not want to color it because I am too curious to see another video tonight.in reply to: Jump Right in! #685420

StefaniaParticipant1. The fact that I wanted to connect with the nature in a creative way. I am a lecturer on Innovation and Creativity and the recent radical change has given me time to reflect upon my life and to plan to write a book. 2. I have noticed that everyone has a structured way of journaling. All of them have changed their styles during the learning process. Clarity needs time. 3. I like taking photographs, I would like to add them too.in reply to: Style Your Journal Your Way #685393
