I am in Denver, and have found Audubon Cheyenne (WY) to have especially useful info and events (online recently, but maybe also in person in future). (In case you are not familiar with this resource:) If you ever drive towards Denver (but not as far south and definitely not in the urban traffic!), consider visiting High Plains Env'l Center. It's a non-profit where we can see lots of native plants that grow with very little or no water beyond precipitation. May not represent your zone optimally, but... And they sell native plants that they grow themselves.
