TessParticipantSit spot #1 was on the National Forest. I ended up seeing the tail end of the autumn colors but it was still real great to be out. I noticed some Sub Alpine Fir trees and thought i would give it a go at sketching these trees. I kind of developed a method for sketching these trees. Not that it's right or wrong but they relate to my experience at my SS. I love trees. I think that certain animals or birds may be easier than trees, grasses, and brush so i would say that was out of my comfort zone. This was Sit spot #1 ~It looks like i have a lot to learn.in reply to: Opening Your Senses #646929

TessParticipantI have journalled before but adding drawings and watercolor really helps to stick with it. While drawing/sketching anything, you tend to remember it and it sticks with you. Loved all the styles of the artists in preview. I want to add color if possible because in bird ID and any types of identification in the field, color matters. So far, my sketching looks like a first grader but i will stick with it. My Dad and Grandma are mentors to me.in reply to: Style Your Journal Your Way #646706

TessParticipantI am actually a photographer but got interested in drawing and sketching from my Grandma and Dad. I feel like i know several bird movemts/ Stills, landing onto a tree limb, feeding on a feeder, moving along the water, preening. But, doing it in action is a challenge. I feel like a combination of sketch and some water color to show some depth of the object. As you progress, the colors might be something to ID and animal or plant. Same as a teachable moment. Not sure what the object might be doing and then they do it and you learn from the observations and the sketch.in reply to: Style Your Journal Your Way #645579
