5D882B97-935E-4ABA-BCBC-02E7806688C8 I did all the contours on top of each other in different colors, so it makes a very strange picture.

20AE7A4D-72F2-48AD-AF81-B7A5380E7A0E I did a comparison of two tree next to each other, one was a giant cottonwood tree all twisted and rough bark, the other was a smaller tree with several small trunks, finer bark and narrow leaves.  It was enjoyable to spend a long time just observing two different trees.  I noticed when I was walking back to my car, that I was observing all the different trees and how the bark and tree trunks looked.

21C7289F-AA99-49AC-8E63-084EFB67714E I went to a favorite place this fall to watch the river and to see if any wildlife would appear.  The weather was warm but a big storm was coming.  It was very peaceful to just sit and observe the landscape for a long time.  The fall colors were very muted due to an early freeze.

188CAD59-2FA4-496C-A8A6-9C47FA6A36C6I finally figured out how to post a picture of the correct size.  I enjoyed drawing from the picture, the feet and getting the right angle of the bird was challenging.  I wouldn’t have noticed the stripes on the stomach so much if I wasn’t drawing them.

I’ve been doing nature journaling for some time now, so when I saw this class, I had to sign up.  I am always looking for new ideas and techniques.  I am impressed with working on site, and even if it’s not a complete picture, it still shows the concept. I do a lot of sketches from photos that I take so I would like to work on drawing in nature.  I really like the field notes and the monthly sketches and I really liked the enlarged bits of a plant.
