It is definitely going to take practice to learn to control the watercolors. This is a brown headed nuthatch I copied from the Merlin photo. Not too bad for my first solo attempt. 202B7851-1191-4DF6-9F59-570C02AD211A

Proportion is still difficult for me and so is shading. Refining from a sketch is very helpful but definitely need a photo to look at. B0921588-10ED-4285-A5BC-ED81BB6F32CC236E1CB8-3013-46FC-8576-B0436509B7D9

Y’all, I promise I measured proportions when I drew this poor sparrow. There’s a reason I’m taking this class, and I’m so thankful that my livelihood does not depend on my artistic abilities. All-in-all, it’s not too bad, but I have to laugh at his truncated head. 😂 D498C6EF-59FF-4D66-9FED-9981E91FB631

We are camping beside a marsh and as I walked to look at the water I spotted a decomposing tree with beautiful pale shelf fungi growing on it.  As I sketched I could hear the birds in the area and unfortunately, the cars on a road in the distance.  I am definitely challenged by trying to draw nature in an accurate way. It was great to see the new growth on the dead tree! Nature never quits! 192BA07E-E7BC-4F0B-87E4-CA9626489A54
