PennyParticipantVery nice Quetzal! Sadly, our quarantine here in Boquete, Panama coincides with quetzal season so we only had a chance to see a nesting pair 0nce this year before we had to isolate. I have wondered if the birds aren't enjoying the privacy instead of the usual flurry of birdwatchers near their nests! I do hope that you've gotten to see these wonderful birds in person! I have been taking advantage of beautiful weather here in Boquete to spend time in the garden and observe the many birds and flowers. The woodpecker is a rare sight and the pink ginger is changing everyday as the flowers open and put out new blossoms. This course has been helpful in raising my awareness of how quickly even the flowers change from day to day.

PennyParticipantI've tried this technique before and found that I was more successful if I only revealed one piece of the picture at a time so that I didn't get ahead of myself . It is a wonderful trick that builds up my confidence and is easy to practice using photos . I know a wonderful artist who likes to look at things upside down before she starts painting and it sure works for her!in reply to: Drawing What You See – Upside Down Drawing #669925

PennyParticipantIt is amazingly coincidental that it was a trip to the Galapagos that inspired me to start painting and journaling! One of the other passengers was an artist who sketched and painted quickly while the rest of us were clicking away with cameras. While admiring her work and discussing her process, I came to realize that she was seeing things so much better than the rest of us were as she noticed textures, colors, shadows, etc. I have since taken a few lessons and now travel with my Peerless paper watercolors and a sketchbook and the sketches bring back much richer memories than photos. I am inspired by the videos to try more animals even if they don't want to pose for me! I do love the ease of my Peerless paper watercolors and would encourage others to try them for the vibrant colors and portability!in reply to: Style Your Journal Your Way #665137
