At the beginning, I could not sense anything new. I tried a couple of 15 minutes sessions, but I just felt what I usually felt. Through reading and looking at the journals of others, I realized it is ok not to have any new discoveries. I just wrote what I saw, heard, and felt. I found that it was relaxing, yet challenging to just sit and write and draw while other chores were waiting to be done. It required me patience. It is good exercise for me to be in a moment, not to rush, and to take my time. I also found that spending a little bit of time everyday by the window gave me joy to find different flowers blooming different timing, which gave me sense of the spring approaching. IMG_3479

IMG_2761 It is hard to make the area of "Highlight" stand out. It is also hard to keep pencil light for the area of "Light."

IMG_2649 It helped me to look at details that I would not see by looking though a photo. It was difficult to draw feathers. I felt that more I tried to put details, further the drawing gets from the actual look. I am looking forward to learning painting different shades of colors.

Drawing something would make me pay attention to detail and deeper learning. I was hoping to learn and identify birds better by drawing them. It is intimidating to look at different journals. I am hoping to establish my own idea and style about nature journaling little by little over time.
