Its early May on Long Island NY and the Catbirds have returned to my yard as they do every year. And once again I wonder are these the same catbirds and their offspring who were here last year or is it more random than that?You must be logged in to reply to this topic.

One flock of birds I'm certain stay together and return together to roost in the same place year after year. It's Chimney Swifts. They have lived in a high chimney of the church next door until someone put a cap on it. I don't know where they roost now but it must be nearby. I still see them flying high over head in the summer time. It was fascinating to watch them swoop into the chimney at dusk when they were roosting next door!
