We live in NE Georgia and starting hearing this bird (or what we assume is a bird - we've never seen it) a couple of years ago. We've lived here for over 20 years and have never heard anything like this before. We tried identifying it with the Merlin app (no cigar) and then via the BirdNET online upload (still no cigar). We sent the audio files to a bird watcher friend but she didn't know what it was. We listened to dozens of audio files of birds we thought it might be (woodpeckers, cuckoos, owls, etc.). Can anyone direct me to a resource where a willing human might have a listen? I don't see a way to upload an audio file to this discussion. Additional details: we live in a pretty wooded area near a national forest, the bird (if that is what in fact it is) seems to roost about 60-ish feet up in the trees, calls only during the day/late afternoon and shuts up as soon as it sees us walking too close below. We have heard one, two and three of them calling at a time with a constant, repetitive single note. It doesn't sound like it could be something like a frog as it moves quickly and easily between the trees at that height. Thank you for any help.
