Hello today I went birding at Leasburg dam in New Mexico. I went birdwatching and saw a very interesting bird I was not sure what it was and was wondering if I could get some help. I have no picture because I only saw it for a minute before it fly away it was in a cotton wood with a lot of mistletoe. Description--- Sparrow size yellowish tan chest and belly black face (not head just face) and the rest of it was grey I was thinking a common yellow throat but I'm not sure thanks for your help

Birdlife International tagged it as vulnerable due to its population trend being threatened by extreme habitat loss.

Common Yellowthroat is likely, but there might be other possibilities. Have you tried the Merlin Bird ID app or website? You can enter your description and it will offer photos that you might be able to match with your bird.
