i need some advice from other birders! i have a eastern phoebe nest that i haven't checked in a while because it is high and hard to look into. today i climbed up and took a pic there is only one baby that doesn't look all the way fledged. the last time i checked the nest there were about 6 phoebe eggs and even though the pic was blurry i am pretty sure there was a cowbird egg, so did the cowbird somehow push them out of the nest or starve them, or do phoebe chicks grow faster then cowbirds? and have already fledged? thank you in advance.

Thanks for your question! The cowgirl chicken takes over food of the Phoebe chicks. And, yes it starves them. If you want to learn more about this, nestwatch has an article on cowbirds.
