The Cornell Lab Bird Academy Discussion Groups Bird Identification In eastern NC a male and female touched beaks twice today. Why?

      The male was on the top perch and the female under him.  He reached down and she reached up to touch beaks.  They did it another time sitting side by side.  Why?  It looked like a kiss!

      I found a lot of birds that do this, may you describe how it looked? (one including Waved Albatross)

      Hi Sue, it's so cool that you observed that behavior! Do you know what kind of bird they were? Without knowing the species, it's hard to say for sure what the behavior was. But, given the time of year, it could be a type of courtship behavior!
