Any tips on screech owl nest box placement? I read here that starlings may take over the nest box, any areas where this is more common? I intend to place the box in a clearing near a maritime forest that in turn borders a salt marsh. There is some fresh water wetland approx. 200 yards from the nest box site. It was also recommended that I place a branch on the box for the owlets, how and where should this be attached to the box?  Below the entrance hole? And would such a branch attract other birds? I have never seen a branch added but sounds like a good idea as the owlets will want and need to branch during their nesting phase. Thanks much.
