I have observed a male robin's nesting behavior since May 9. He was building the nest all by himself with no female in sight. A few weeks later, nestlings had appeared. No female was ever seen in proximity of the nest, but I found a dead female a few weeks later, near the nestlings' fledging date. How did the eggs get there, and is it normal for a male to raise the young on his own?
