NancyParticipantI am pleased with my progress, knowing that I will never be an artist. All the skills have been useful to me. I taught biology and zoology and always told my students I flunked art. I think noticing the open spaces has been very helpful.in reply to: Giving Your Drawings Depth #816332

NancyParticipantI was surprised at how good the bird really looked when I turned it right side up. However, all that looking from one thing to another made me kind of dizzy.in reply to: Drawing What You See – Upside Down Drawing #815710

NancyParticipantI enjoyed this assignment. It made me pay careful attention to my two subjects. I learned but couldn't quite figure out how to draw the leaf in 3 dimension showing that it was v-shaped in cross section so I added a note that it looked like a tent with no floor. I am glad I took the time to pull these plants out of the ground to compare their roots. These are both weeds in my yard so no damage was done. I would not have noticed that the right hand plant has milky sap - that probably means it is poisonous to anything eating it.in reply to: The Power of Comparison #808622

NancyParticipantMy image would not upload. It was in JPEG format and only 4 MB. Don't know what I did wrong. I felt challenged, a little scared and wondering how much detail I should in. I ended up drawing the entire picture with pencil, not just the bird. If I had not been drawing, I might not have noticed the red stripes on the bird's breast and the leaf that had been chewed. I guess you should try to draw everything you see. But not sure.in reply to: Jump Right in! #800403
