JillParticipantGesture Drawing Exercise: Not much detail just a basic outline, I didn't really get in any shading and proportions of parts are all wrong. Refined Drawing: I was able to add a lot more details to this drawing. I had to do a lot of fixing of proportions and shading of light and darks. The proportions still need work I think, there are still more details that I overlooked when I took a step back at my drawing. It was fun though!in reply to: Giving Your Drawings Depth #822816

JillParticipantIt took me a long time to draw but it was a great exercise. The most difficult part for me was the body with all the different small shapes and trying to fit them into a larger space. I tried to cram all the tiny shapes in.in reply to: Drawing What You See – Upside Down Drawing #821833

JillParticipantIt was difficult to not look at the paper and just stay focused on the subject. I had to draw real slow to make myself stay focused on the subjects.in reply to: Focusing on Your Subject – Blind Contour Drawing #821206

JillParticipantI think I need to ask myself more questions, get me thinking about the finer details of the subject.in reply to: Noticing Themes in Nature #817769

JillParticipantI like drawing from a photo reference. However, the challenge for me was seeing the fine details in the photo. I had difficulty with the background. I wondered if I should have did the background color first then paint over it? Should I have used a different brush? Did I use too much water? I had a harder time manipulating the paint to cover the negative space as opposed to coloring in the subject. I think I would have seen more details to add if I was nature journaling.in reply to: Jump Right in! #815750

JillParticipantI have been drawing and painting every day since October 2018. I participate in daily art prompt challenges and using different media in my art. My husband and I recently have started birding. I have been wanting to try nature journaling for a while now, but did not know where or how to start. I came across this course while searching for ways to learn how to begin a nature journal. I would like to try Shayna Muller's way of nature journaling because her style seems to match what I would like to capture in my journal. I like the boxes and having the art work peek out from the boxes while having journal writing surrounding my art.in reply to: Style Your Journal Your Way #815678
