JaniceParticipantThe drawing on the left is a much truer representation of the yellow warbler. Instead of pencils I used water color. Though I am just learning about them, I find them exciting to use. Though I have a long way to go, I am very encouraged by what Liz has taught me. This class has been a joy and a revelation. Thank you, Liz, and Cornell.in reply to: See How Far You’ve Come #648941

JaniceParticipantThis is my first water color effort. The loon was pictured in a calendar. The class has been a joy especially in the chilly Minnesota fall. I have a lot of questions about going forward, but look forward to discovering the answers.in reply to: Filling Your Sketches with Color #648477

JaniceParticipantYour drawings are lovely. What tools do you use for the color? Pencils? Markers? Watercolors? Thank you.in reply to: The Power of Comparison #646729

JaniceParticipantIt was very hard to get the three dimensions of the apple at first. I felt stuck. Then I watched a video that gave some hints. That helped me get started. Now I am excited to try another drawing. Bring on the fruit!in reply to: Illustrating the 3D World #646567

@Rose Thank you, Rose. I took your advice and bought an eraser at Art Materials today. Here is my second attempt at drawing the yellow warbler. It isn't quite done, but I like the shape so far.

JaniceParticipant1. it was hard to start the body of the bird on a blank page. Using colored pencils for the first time was a challenge. Nothing was particularly easy. It was difficult making the warbler as beautiful on the page as he was in the photo. My eraser was terrible. Must get a decent one.in reply to: Jump Right in! #645578
