Fun exercise. I tried to keep my lines loose. The contour and gesture drawing exercises helped in focusing on the subject. Wondering though about drawing accurate images or something that approximates to the subject.
Drew this from a picture not in the field. Considering negative space and proportions was very useful while drawing, hoping to get to a point where this happens while drawing without thinking consciously about it.
Struggling between drawing what I see and drawing from memory - what I think I should be seeing. Need to learn to trust my eyes and hands more, rely less on memory.
Did this in ink for better visibility. One similarity I didn't note down is the irregular shape of the shells. Need to improve in capturing their curvature along different axes.
- drawing the branches and leaves seemed easier than drawing the warbler
- the warbler's proportions seem off, elongated in my drawing while it seems more compact in the photo
- fun exercise, glad to start on this course!
