JanineParticipantThe proportions were so wrong on my gesture drawing that I ended up nearly redoing the entire drawing. Looking at negative space really helps.in reply to: Giving Your Drawings Depth #809207

JanineParticipantYour drawing is really great! I like how you made the feather texture look so soft.in reply to: Giving Your Drawings Depth #809200

JanineParticipantWow - that worked out way better than I expected! Starting to put together ideas of negative space, propertions, and really seeing. It's nice to see a little progress :O)in reply to: Drawing What You See – Upside Down Drawing #803668

JanineParticipantI think I drew too quiuckly, but it was an interesting exercise, and made me look more closely at the outlines.in reply to: Focusing on Your Subject – Blind Contour Drawing #788675

I just drew in my bird room because it was cold and windy outdoors. This is my Jardines parrot. He loves to have the attention of me drawing him.

JanineParticipantI love hearing about how the people journaling had to look so closely and appreciate whatever they were drawing much more than just hearing/seeing a bird, etc. and naming it and moving on. I like Jewel Alston's journaling style. I like that the journal doesn't have to be perfect. There can be bloopers and multiple attemps to capture something they see. I tend to want everything to look pretty, which can make my drawings look more frozen, so I'm hoping that journaling will loosen up my drawings. I really want to learn to ID the sparrows of the Southwest, so I like the idea of creating a personal field guide.in reply to: Style Your Journal Your Way #769908
