What are Group Plans?

Group plans allow many users to access BirdWise with the convenience of only one subscription and at a significant discount. If you’re a family or group of friends who share a passion for birds, up to five people can be on one plan for about the same cost as two regular subscriptions. If you’re part of a bird club or teach a classroom, you can manage access for up to fifty additional users at a fraction of the cost of having participants purchase their own subscriptions.

How Do I Sign Up for a Group Plan?

You can select from one of our many group subscription plans to fit the size of your group (5–50).

Your subscription will be renewed annually. You can cancel at any time and you and your group members will still have access until your subscription expires.

How Do I Manage Who is in My Group?

As a group plan owner, you can manage who has access to your plan. You can add or remove group members as often as you want. To manage your group member list, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Birdwise app.
2. Sign in (if you are not signed in already).
3. Go to your settings page. The link can be found at the bottom of the left navigation panel on desktop computers or under the navigation menu on mobile devices.
4. Click on the Group Management tab along the top of the page.
5. Enter the email addresses of people you want to have in your group.
6. When you’re done, click the Save Changes button.
7. To remove users, simply delete their email and save.

Important

• The email you enter for a group member must be the same as the one they are using to log in. You should check with them first to confirm which email they are using.
• People you add or remove from your group will not receive an email notification. You will have to let them know.
• If a person you have added to your group hasn’t yet logged into BirdWise using the email you entered, they will have a Pending label next to their name.
• Once a person you have added has logged into BirdWise using the email you entered, they will have an Activated label next to their name.

How to Log in as a Member of a Group Subscription

1. Navigate to the Birdwise app.
2. Click on the Sign In or the Sign In / Create Account button.

If you already have an account with any project from the Lab of Ornithology (e.g. Bird Academy, Merlin, eBird, etc..):

1. Enter your username and password and sign in.

If you do not already have an account with another Lab of Ornithology project:

1. Click the Create Account button.
2. Enter your name and choose a username and password.
3. Click the Create Account button.
4. Check your email and click on the link in the email sent to you (this may take a few minutes).
5. Navigate to the Birdwise app and click Sign In again. This time you will be automatically logged in.
