sondraParticipantI’m anxious to get started so I’m using the colors that have been delivered. The rest should arrive any day. Working with this paint is a whole new experience. Thanks for doing this Jane Kim!in reply to: Paint: Color Reference Card #940376

sondraParticipantIt wasn’t pretty. I didn’t go outside to complete the assignment because of the snow and cold but did draw from leaves I had. It was easier because I was holding it and could sort of see a little out of the corner of my eye. I need lots more practice with this.in reply to: Focusing on Your Subject – Blind Contour Drawing #649035

sondraParticipantVery nice drawing! I found this great website for feather identification called the feather atlas, I’ve used it several times. fws.govin reply to: The Power of Comparison #648121

sondraParticipantColorful leave are falling everywhere and I wondered what determines their colors. I drew an Northern Red Oak leaf which is reddish and a yellow Norway Maple for comparison. Checking on Wikipedia I found there are 2 pigments present after their the chlorophyll has left the leaves because of dropping temperatures and less sunlight. Carotenoids which are already present in the leaf come through as yellow, orange and brown. Anthrocyanins present as reds and purples. Thank you Wikipedia.in reply to: The Power of Comparison #648102

sondraParticipantSo nice to see everyone’s journal - such variety and wonderful work. My spot is a place I go several times a week. It’s a unique and protected wetland, Labrador Hollow, and I’ve had the opportunity to notice all the changes through the year. Right now it’s Autumn with beautiful colors and migrating birds, especially Canada geese - I never get tired of this place. Looking forward to continuing and seeing others journal.in reply to: Opening Your Senses #647540
