Yellow WarblerYellow Warbler 2 First drawing and then the last drawing/painting.  More detail in second.  Trying to get the right effect, I wore the paper out some.  I guess I was impatient and did not wait until paper completely dried. A lesson learned.

Watercolor lesson This is what I did to try out the different techniques.  Very difficult to regulate the amount of water on the brush.  Took a while to get the hang of it.  Still need practice but feel a little better about it

jpainted bird I tried watercolor some time ago and was not very successful.  I have trouble getting the correct amount of water on the brush.  Something I need to work on.  It was raining so did this from our lesson on the computer.  Colors were a little hard to distinguish but the suggestion of color was ok.  I would have liked to blend the colors more but wasn't really able to .  Anyway, will try some more and hopefully more successful.

bird The exercise made me look more closely at the bird and identify some of the markings that I had not seen before.  the Wings were very hard until I decided not to put so much detail into them.

Upside down drawing I have done this before and it really is amazing.  I did have difficulty keeping my place on the subject.  Good exercise.

Jester Drawing I need a lot more practice on this task.  I found it very difficult at catch actions on paper.  The birds were so fast moving around.  The moment I put down the pencil the bird moved to another position.  I did get a chance to really take in the behavior of the birds, so that was a positive.

Comparison drawing I liked this exercise.  It really helped me concentrate on the details.  Amazing how things look so similar from a distance and then when looking closely how different they really are.

I liked this exercise.  I went to 2 different nature preserves near me. I had the chance to sit in peace and quite and enjoy the surroundings even though I was very close to the airport and main roads.  A little bit of heaven among the busy life around us.   I was very surprised that I found no birds or ducks at one place while sitting on a bench in front of a pond.  Very unusual, and if I didn't stop and think about it I would not have noticed.  Lots to observe in both places.  I will definetly do this some more

It always takes me a long time to sketch, so it is easier for me to draw from a picture.  I need more practice so that I can move quicker and also with moving objects.
